My name is Barbara and I have been teaching IB Biology, Environmental Systems and Societies and Geography for almost 14 years for DP 1 and DP 2 students. I am also an IB Examiner (since 2012) and Content Writer (I have written four books about the subjects I teach). I hold a Bachelor's degree in Medical Biology and a Ph.D. in Ecology along with having been an IB graduate (from Red Cross Nordic UWC class '99). I hold a CELTA and a Teaching Qualification for Sciences along with three IB workshop attendance (Cat 1, 2 and 3). In the last five years, I have tutored almost 60 students online (for mock's, retakes and final exams) and 94% of them have increase their mark of two points. I specialize in tutoring all levels of IB Biology, ESS, Geography, SEHS and Chemistry along with MYP Sciences and IGCSE Biology. Being an experienced educator, I believe in a student-centered approach, focusing on breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps and encouraging critical thinking. I have developed a lot of materials throughout the years that can help students pursue a solid understanding of the subject to thrive in their final examinations and the results they have achieved have proven me right. Since I am also working as IB coordinator at school, I know this environment very well and that is instrumental in having a full educational experience. Beyond tutoring, I enjoy playing golf, spending quality time with my 8 years old child and knitting. Hello! My name is Cathal O'Mahony and I am a dedicated Business Management tutor with a passion for helping students achieve their educational goals. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business, majoring in Human Resources, and a first-class honours Postgraduate Diploma in Education. Currently, I'm pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematics, continuing my commitment to lifelong learning. Since 2014, I have specialised in teaching DP Business Management, guiding my students to consistently improve their grades and reach their goals. My students consistently achieve above expectations in the final exam, with a significant number securing a 7 each year. I'm particularly skilled at helping students make the critical leap from a 6 to a 7, though I also enjoy supporting those striving to raise their scores from a 4 to a 5 or higher. I believe that with hard work and a fresh perspective, all students have the potential to excel. Hi! I'm Leah, an IB SL and HL History teacher with over ten years' experience as Head of Department at leading South African private schools. After being awarded a full scholarship to attend the prestigious United World College of the Adriatic from 2002-2004 where I completed my IB, I continued pursuing my passion for History by completing a BA (Hons) in History and Italian Literature, an MA in Italian Literature, and a PGCE (Teaching Diploma) in History and English, for which I was awarded top student in the course. In 2020, I was awarded the Canon's Collins Scholarship for a PhD in History Education, after serving as Head of History for over ten years at two high-achieving private schools in Cape Town, South Africa. During my time working in the school context, I was heavily involved in the pastoral care of high school students, acting as Grade Head, as well as Deputy Head (Student Affairs) at a school run by the Inspired Education Group. In more recent years, I have shifted my focus to History and Citizenship content and curriculum development, while also tutoring and examining IGCSE, GCSE, AS Level and IB History. I am passionate about education, history, and young people, and I see my subject as a lens through which to interpret the contemporary world. I view every tutoring relationship as a partnership, and I remain deeply committed and invested in building my students' confidence, critical thinking, resilience, and love for learning. I am an IB mathematics tutor for Analysis and Approaches (SL and HL) and Applications and Interpretations (SL). In June 2000 I received my Bachelor of science from Ain Shams University, a construction engineering major. In September 2006, I received a certificate in teaching aids and techniques from the faculty of education; in June 2010 I finished my master's diploma from the American Graduate School of Education. I also teach SAT math and physics preparation courses privately as a part-time job in the afternoons and at weekends. Managing my time between work, study and playing football - my favorite sport – is a real challenge. Time management, organizational skills, responsibility, teamwork, and leadership are all characteristics that I am eager to use in the classroom as well as share with my students. I am currently teaching AP Physics C-Mechanics and the math supervisor/IB diploma mathematics (HL and SL) and an IB examiner/ teacher at both The International School of Elite Education and Cairo Modern International School, New Cairo, I am a determined, enthusiastic, and highly motivated person. I want students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in an atmosphere that is stimulating and adaptive to their diverse needs. During my 23 years of teaching experience, I have focused on instilling in my students a love of learning, as well as teaching them to be responsible and involved citizens of a democratic society. As a result of my current position and my prior seventh-grade student teaching experience, as well as 5 years experience as a high school principal in an American international school, I have become flexible in my teaching, while perfecting high organizational and managerial standards and skills. These skills have aided me in providing a strong curriculum for my students. Because I am CITA certified and I have taught at both middle and high school levels, I feel confident that I am prepared to teach any class, at any grade level.
