Course Structure and Content
The HL IB Spanish B assessment consists of Paper 1 (25%), Paper 2 (50%), and the Individual Oral (25%). In Paper 1, students write a well-organized response on a course theme, ensuring their ideas are well developed, include a suitable tone, and proper register. Paper 2 assesses students' reading and listening skills through three texts, including a literary piece, and three audio clips from different Spanish-speaking regions. To prepare, students should practice identifying main ideas, understanding context clues, and familiarizing themselves with various Spanish accents from different regionsSpain, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina. The Individual Oral is a 15-minute literary analysis students toexamine an extract, connect it to course themes, and discuss both implicit and explicit details. Strong preparation in these areas helps students succeed and feel confident in their exams.
